Cosmic gate in place of Ferry Corsten is a weak replacement. I think Twisted's credibility is up for review especially in light of the Dean Wilson no-show at Spooky. The no show thing is something I would have expected from the Exert crew.....
I checked the flier and was really excited about this party until I found out not only is there no Ferry, but also Greg C didn't get booked. I think this is pants. I pick and choose my parties based on who is playing and now I am not sure if I will be going to this one. Cosmic gate are very good remixers, decent producers, but I am afraid their DJ performance will be less than satisfactory. Sometimes this happens, ie: Gielen: great producer, mediocre DJ..... I wouldn't pay more than 25 bucks for this show, and Twisted better re-evaluate thier degree of greed, Vancouver will only stand this sh*t for so long. Personally, it is stuff like this that has propelled my drive to move. |

You must be an idiot or something so i'll forgive you this time first off it's not like wingkids and twisted just put dean wilson's name for the hell of it. He No showed. Remember that DEAN WILSON No showed. And second ... HE SUCKS hahaha Ferry COrsten can't play because of family issues.. so what do you do? you bash the company that tries to bring him in even though it's Ferry who can't show up. Re-evaluate greed? Throw a party and you tell me who much it costs. and if you want to move because of the prices of this party go for it. Move to E-Town where raves are virtally illegal now. Consider yourself lucky to Live in Vancouver. |

i agree with 2sweet. 25 bucks for a large scale party? tell me any other city on the fuckin globe that puts out massives that cheap. bringing out world class djs, renting a large venue, setting up sound and lights etc not only costs alot but takes a shitload of effort and time. in other cities raves go for over 100 bucks and people pay the fuckin price and have the best times of their lives! promoters make alot of money, are able to pay all their needs, and in the end, it just means more parties and big djs rolling in more often.
one of the reasons why the scene here blows is because promoters are given such a tight budget as a result of REALLY cheap partiers. youLL get what you paid for. shitty sound, 4-5 headliners max, mediocre light show and most of all dissatisfied customers (=bad vibe!??!). SUPPORT YOUR SCENE AND PUT MORE MONEY INTO IT!! if you cant afford to contribute that, then maybe the rave scene isnt for you. everything about the rave scene costs a shitload of money and the people who are involved in it deserve the money back as well as a fair profit for their hard work. for example, for an hour set, an average local dj is throwing down almost $200 dollars of vinyl, if not more. big international djs with promos and dubplates are throwing down almost $1000 worth of vinyl per set. ravers always complain about wanting to hear new music.. well if you want to hear new music, then support your djs through these shows so they can take some money home to buy new vinyl! turntables and a mixer aint cheap either! its not we have money coming outta our fuckin asses. ever wonder why you see so many ghetto jibteks at cheap jungle shows? cuz ghetto fuckin retards are throwing them and whaddaya know? their ghetto retard jibtek friends come rolling in on guestlist! and i'm sure many of these ghetto losers can afford a 10-15 dollar ticket (while complaining its too expensive) when i started partying, i was always blown away at shows since it was obvious alot of money and pride were put into these shows. now everything is so ghetto! the "electronic" scene was not made to be ghetto. and people with money dont wanna be around ghetto people. |

Oh my god you've blown my cover.... an idiot?? Perhaps to you, but let me finish what I need to say and then you be the judge.
1. I would never expect the MAX price for a rave to be 25 bucks. That is insane. I am simply SUGGESTING that perhaps pre sales should start earlier and tickets should start at a regular price as opposed to 45 dollars. 2. I am a DJ. I know how much vinyl costs. I know how family issues come up (I wasn't informed of the situation with Ferry, I was blatently told he cancelled) As for the Dean Wilson thing, eventhough HE didn't show, unfortuatelly it still makes Twisted and SWING KIDS look bad. I am not blaming them, but sometimes booking reliable talent helps...a lesson learned I am sure. 3. I love our scene. If you really knew who I was you'd think twice about calling me an idiot. I have worked tons of parties free of charge becuase I want our scene to flourish. I guess I am just getting frustrated with the whole process. Sometimes love can manifest into strange feelings of hopelessness. 4. I am eventually moving, but not just for the scene, I am moving to produce for Hope recordings. 5. I apologize if I stepped on anyone's toes, but it's a free country and I am allowed to speak my mind freely. I suppose airing one's frustrations with obvious limitations is pointless. You say cheap ravers are dictating what promoters do in this city. Look at the available venues and their relative capacities. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE TO THROW A 10,000 plus people event. Trust me. |

U wanna move because of our raves????

keep on reading.... no I am not moving because of our raves, are you mad or something??? lol. The scene needs a desperate dose of oxygen, but I don't think it is abysmal by any stretch.
I am moving to make it as a DJ, launch a record label and produce. Plus I need a change. The rave thing bothers me a bit because I love partying in Vancouver. I just hate the politics. Hopefully that has cleared up any misconceptions I may have led you to believe. |

Regarding Reliability. -- Ferry Corsten's Grand Father is dying. He decided that he can't play for simple, but will play in a future date. yeah.... bad twisted. Dean Wilson was never a crowd favourite on the roster. he didn't show. big deal. Johan Gielen did the best he could. he didn't want to risk spinning good records and scratching them because of shotty equipment. can you blame him? The equipment was horrible. Left Channel was faulty. The needles were Shit. the tables were not calibrated. is that twisted or swing kid's fault? no. masterplans.
Ferry Corsten WILL come to Vancity. But, not at simple. so chill. As for expecting the parties to be cheaper? did you know each police officer has to be paid about $X a night? and that for every X number of people, you need 1 security guard? and for every exit / entrance, you need 1 security guard? and that each security guard is overly paid? did you know that insurance, venue cost, lighting cost, etc has gone up? blame it on inflation, blame it on whatever you want, but face it. if production prices go up, you can't expect ticket prices to go down. In terms of Greg C. he's a friend of mine, and i respect his dj skills. but he can't play at EVERY twisted party. If he did, we wouldnt need any other twisted trance dj's. Cosmic Gate and Johan Gielen are terrific DJ's and altho i agree that Cosmic Gate isn't as good as Ferry Corsten, that doesn't mean that Simple 6 is not going to be an excellent party, and that doesn't mean the reliability of twisted goes down. Ferry will arrive, possibly with Armin Van Buuren. THAT will be a rockin party. but so will simple. |

i think this post is getting away from it's original meaning! some stuff being said on this post hurts to read. people need to know when there is a limit!
People these days just don't respect promoters/djs/producers are trying to do!if there is one little flaw it's the end of the world! we all need to sit back relax and not jump to conclusion! It was not only the main stage at spooky but all stages were whack and had it's problems. This had nothing to do with twisted by the way. not gonna mention any names but i'm sure the majority could probably put it together and figure out what it was! anyway, enough from me. Cinto PS: Ferry will still be coming, but Cosmic Gate is going to rock as well, the are excellent producers... and for those of you who are trying to compair them as DJs please let me know if you've heard both of them many times yet, cause i know i haven't. you can't judge a DJ unless you've heard them play at least 5 times, because everyone has their days of playing well and playing not so well. i have faith in Cosmic gate and can't wait to hear them play! :smoke1: |

why shouldn't azim and the twisted crew make money of their parties? he's not doing all this work outta the kindness of his heart. its his job, i give him and kraig props, atleast their not charging these prices for people from the uk whom ive never heard of before. Like they have for previous parties.
and shiet, what do you expect..all the other cities with good scenes and good dj's charge way more then twisted does. like k-pryde says tickets elsewhere are way more expensive. all those big gatecrasher shows everyone wets there pants over cost 120 bucks cdn to get in. i doubt even half the cheap ass "ravers" here in vancouver would ever pay that much, even the ones that wish parties here were like that...plus its lousy cdn money that your paying, thats half the reason they can't get big acts out because they all want american money. 10k for a uk dj to play ends up being 18k cdn when everything is said and done. ps..fuck masterplan..they ruined a good party Last edited by SEAN!; Nov 07, 02 at 06:23 PM. |

sean ! lol hey man . for 120$.. and the line up gatecrasher can supply.. hell i'd pay. so many dj's... it's like fukkin usc x 10 man we'll bus it there again haha
as for simple.. the line-up is nice enough for a rave so. that's all i have to say. but simple III will always be the memorable one. always and forever. was it not the first massive simple? hahah ferry and armin at one twisted rave? yah i've yet to see that. and if that happens, hopefully it'll be a better turnout than last year's new year's eve party. because the line up for that was not bad but... it just didn't attract. and as for moving to another place to keep up with the dj'ing, good luck kuz lori miss hi fi is doin pretty good. |
