I am completely reliant, but i do agree that it is nice to get away from it. Same deal, when i travel i have mp3 and camera, and camping i have a stereo and phone.
on a side note......sometimes i fantasize about crazy apocolyptic scenarios, where i roam the land Mad Max styles and struggle to survive. I think it would be fun, if you had no other option.

I can go without the internet for weeks if I want, I've done it before and you realize how much you get done and how much time you actually waste on the computer and or internet. My phone didn't work for a week though and I was a little edgy because my phone book is in there. But other that that, I wouldn't say I am reliant on technology in my life, other than my job, which if I didn't have a computer, I wouldn't even be able to do my job.

Outside of work, I don't mind disconnecting myself from the technology world. But that doesn't mean I like to.

Life would be a little more difficult without the means to create fire or any tools for that matter. Without a blanket, I'd be pretty cold at night. Cave floors just don't seem too inviting either; I like my bed. Food would suck if all we could do was forage for plants because we didn't have the technology to hunt.

I think I'll stick with technology.

I would love to go out to the forest or some tropical beach for a month or so and live off the land and be completely disconnected from modern technolgy/gadgets...stuff like comfy clothes and bed I wouldn't be so quick to let go of, unless it was a really sunny and warm tropical island where I could walk around naked all day and sleep in the sand.
