People who have had more than five oral-sex partners in their lifetime are 250% more likely to have throat cancer than those who do not have oral sex, a new study suggests.

The researchers believe this is because oral sex may transmit human papillomavirus (HPV), the virus implicated in the majority of cervical cancers.

did you even read the article? by performing oral sex you are at a higher risk of contracting HPV which in turn increases the risk of throat cancer and cercival cancer. while the study may be leaving out variables, and the math might seem wrong, it's very possible at least. but all you have to do is look at the population of the US, guess how many probably have oral sex, and the small number of reported cases of throat cancer... well you get the picture. but the association is not completely false
