Drivers in Vancouver

I went out for lunch at Jericho Beach today and on my way home we got stuck behind this person who was riding on a scooter (strike one), wearing a short-sleeve shirt and flip-flops (strike two), and to top it all off she was talking on a cellphone by putting it on speaker phone and holding it in front of her face.

First off, driving a scooter or a motor-bike and talking on a cellphone is so unbelievably unsafe as to completely overshadow the stupidity of wearing flip flops and a short-sleeve shirt on a vehicle which you are 100% guaranteed to fly off of if you hit ANYTHING. To make matters worse she while she was talking on the cellphone she was crawling along (in the left lane) which was just asking for somebody to cut her off (miraculously this didn't happen).

Note that in this picture despite she'd having finished her phone call and we'd honked at her making an obvious 'hang-up-the-phone' motion she has still not put the cellphone away and is still riding with just one hand. Right after I snapped this picture she finally put the phone away drove into the right-hand (without indicating, although she did look behind herself afterwards) and drove up Burrard. If you know this person smack them one and tell them to stop driving like an idiot before they get themselves (never mind somebody else) killed.

PS: The first person to make a 'woman driver' comment gets to deal with the flame war. I have clearly stated that this drivers incompetence is directly related to them being addicted to their cellphone as well as oblivious to the dangers of driving a 2-wheeled vehicle.

heh the other day I saw some guy doing his road test on a motorcycle wearing a tshirt and baggy pants with the examiner in the car behind him... Can't even believe they even proceeded with the road test... would of failed him before he even got on the road.

I think more people should be aware of that stuff. Maybe some people need to see a few people who've been in an bike accident wearing shorts and flip flops!

If she saw even what happens on those LITTLE pocketbikes that kids ride.... the ones that go 60km/hour.... they can easily be fatal... 60km/hour + bare skin + concrete = ......... i don't even want to think about it..

thing as well is with this weather and skin exposure.... one can become sick easily and not be able to control the bike/scooter properly
