Problem with getting a crack is a) you have to keep up with the times or some Genuine Advantage schtick may cripple your software later, and b) honestly, Microsoft has a real problem dealing with its own legacy file formats, and OO handles them much better IMHO.

And with all the bru-ha-ha Microsoft is doing over OOXML and how little the governments and corps are buying it, I wouldn't be surprised if ODF becomes a major business standard in the next 5 years anyways (and if that made sense to you, congrats... NERD!)

crack? I found some keygen, put in a key, and away I went. Even when I went to grab a template through office online and it "validated" my office, there were no problems....so Im not too sure how f'd up their genuine advantage is for office 2k7.

Ive used open office for awhile now but it sure pisses me off at times.

pros; easy to grab when you need it
cons; relearn nearly every trick you knew in Word

Again, courtney if you have a mac it's as easy as copy and paste to get the office suite and it will take care of all your student needs. LMK.
