Eso, Is Ayahuasca used in Central America? i was under the impression it was more of a Amazon and below kinda thing.
And Pelenque is a must, I have heard and seen so much about it I can't miss it!

yeah, ayahuasca is primarily a amazon thing...the big entheogens in meso america are mescaline,salvia and the big one...mushrooms.

palenque is a absolute must!!!!...of all the ruins ive visited palenque,for me, has been the most awe inspiring...more so then macchu picchu wich ive seen 3 times already lol

as you walk to the road to palenque locals will offer you local mushrooms wich GROW EVERYWHERE down there. i highly recomend taking some. it is a AMAZING experience and like they say......"when in rome"

mojo, chichen itza is cool too but saturated with touristy day trips for playa del carmen...if you go,stay in town and go SUPER EARLY. i cant find my travel log but i think blake might remember the hotel/hostel we crashed at...

but palenque is just pure class!...dont stay in the city. stay in a place caled 'panchan' wich is this amazing community of hippie-run psuedo communes,guesthouses,restaraunts and tour companys that is set up deep in dense jungle about 4k down the road from the ruins. its really a amazing place but HOT AS FUCKING HELL!!!!! lol..

oh and the old quater in panama city is a photographers wet-dream. but be careful, there are some spots that are EXTREMELY dangerous and looking back, me and the 350 are lucky to be alive.

the panama canal is really awe inspiring too. i was luke-warm to seeing it but when i did it was actually REALLY interesting and amazing.

be sure to see the miraflores locks, those are the best ones to see

dont stay in the city....follow what b said about panchan..its brilliant there...i cant remember what house we stayed but its all interconnected and its all good.

just sit back in the restaurant there and you will spot all the local hippies....then start your walk on the road to the ruins and you will be offered THE AMAZING,SPECTACULAR AND LEGENDARY mushrooms that grow everywhere in the region!..

it really is a awesome experience….and I can garuntee your going to spot other giggling ‘tourists’ around the grounds as well…lol..

obviously though keep your caution and witts about you...but everyone kinda knows what gose on and unless your really obnoxious you wont really get hasseld all to much.

of all the places ive seen I must say palenque ranks as my most favorite.

Man, el panchan was a shithole. the restaurants were crap and over priced, and the service was horrible. plus, no mushrooms. there were police checks going to and from the park, so not a soul offered me anything.
weaksauce. Palenque, however, was amazing. i could have spent ages there but was heading to aqua azul afterwards because i didnt want ot stay another day there.
oh well.
back to Guatemala tomorrow to see lake atitlan for a few weeks and brush up on my spanish skills.

May I ask why you chose to tell him to stay away from Playa del Carmen? I had some friends just get back from there and they loved it?

ya, i would love playa if i was there for a week and wanted to just party every night and pull ladies. the thing is that the town is geared towards that type of tourist, so everything is rediculously priced and lacks all things mexico, except the beer and prozzies.

this year im doing northern india/nepal/central asia....

next year ill do another southamerican trip...
