The hardest part is fighting the urge to try out the defibrillator. In this case, I think curiosity would definitely kill this cat. Still... ZZZZZZZZZZAP!

Just something i've wondered... when it comes to training to become a paramedic... is there any stuff they teach you, to deal with emotional trauma you're sure recieve after seeing some really messed up things... people dying infront of you... dead children... etc... or do they just give you the medical aspect of it, and then you kinda just have to learn to deal with that stuff once you encounter it?

Is it common for paramedics to develop depression or any other disorder after seeing a really messed up accident etc etc?

how the hell do people deal with seeing stuff like that on a daily basis... maybe they just get desensitized and are able to leave everything from work... at work... when they go home

I'm not actually in training yet. I'm certified for everything up to but not including invasive procedure. That's where the paramedics come in. I'm still trying to mentally prepare myself for that role before I take the course.

As for the emotional trauma... it's very common. Watch the movie Bringing Out the Dead. It's pretty much dead on, with a Scorcese twist. Ironically enough, it's the movie that made me decide to get into this business.

Basically from what I've been told, they do cover emotional trauma in the course, although not extensively, but you never really get over seeing people die. You do, however, have to learn that they wouldn't have had ANY chance if you weren't there or get out of the industry.

The way I look at it, people die... at the very least, I can make it easier for them. At the very best, they'll defy probability and come out ok. Either way, I'll give it my all.

Camera Pro (an application for the iPhone) has a timer, zoom in/out, etc., but it's only a trial version. I still love the iPhone though - best phone I have ever owned. What case are you using for it?
