Places worth checking out?

What are some places around here and the Lower Mainland that are good to visit? What are also some things to see that everyone who lives in BC should see?

I have some guests coming to Canada for the first time, and I want to show them some signature places around here... thanks!

I made a similar thread way back when a friend visited from the states. For some reason, it's so damn hard to think of places to take visitors when you've lived in Vancouver all your life. It's hard to see it through their eyes....

I have thought this topic over and over many times because of my friend's visit to Vancouver last year, so I would love to share some more ideas, but it would be more helpful if you gave us some stats on the people who are visting you...

Age, budget, time? Access to car?

I think the drive up to whistler is amazing, if you have the time, money and car its worth it.

My grandmother used to manage the restaurant at Hell's Gate. That's where I spent my childhood.

Tofino. Yeah, I know it's not the Lower Mainland... but certainly worth the trip.

Over to the Island for Victoria/Tofino for sure. Maybe one of the Gulf Islands....Saltspring, Denman, Gabriola, etc.

Cap Suspension Bridge, Snow sports at local mountains(tubing if they dont have tuns of cash), Aquarium, Planetarium, Stanley Park, Vandusen Gardens (I don't know how they would be this time of year)

One of my favourite places to go is the look out on the way up to Cypress Bowl.

You get an amazing view of the city from there, especially on a clear night.

oooh. Dr Sun Yat Sen garden. Even in the winter, it's neat and great for photographs.
