Video Editing Software?

Looking to getting into video editing/production. Can anyone recommend some good programs for a novice?

Abobe Premier pro 2
Sony Vegas 6 and up
Windows Moviemaker

for MAC there is only Final cut pro

For a Mac? -- Dude start with Final Cut Express. Pro is not at the novice level and costs a fortune.

Final Cut HD for Mac. It is the ultimate, make sure you buy the whole set. It comes with everything.

oh i never noticed you said novice, It is still good for novice's, very easy to use and easy to understand, very straight forward.

I do not recommend express for anyone, because it limits you a lot on what you can do. Its almost too basic.

MOVIE MAKER!!! Haha, kidding. I'm using Adobe After Effects right now and it's pimping dude. As soon as you get a hang of the program it's a breeze.

I live by Vegas. but the industry standard for PC is adobe/Avid.

Adobe After Effects for colour grading and other effects if you want....Mac also has a new program that looks pretty good for that stuff called "Color"

compositing. i hear nuke and fusion are much better.
