the crows in the west end are getting agressive lately, i've seen a few attacks near the big trees at nelson & bute...

today i was walking up Nelson between burrard & thurlow and heard screaming... there was this woman hoding her dog, running down the sidewalk on the other side of the street. She was being chased by a mad crow that was grabbing at her hair with it's claws. This chick was screaming in absolute panic, as if she were being chased by an axe weilding psychopath. She ran under an alcove at one of the church doors for safety and the crow started diving at other bystanders. Some fat lady on the sidewalk was trying talk sense to the crow. All in all, a pretty bizarre scene.

I know what you mean though Sherwood, I was woken up at 7am today by a murder of crows attacking something outside my apartment window.

i got in a small fight with one last week. swiped at it and it followed me for a block trying to drive attack me. didn't actually touch me tho

I got attacked by a crow once around carderro and burnaby. just walking along, suddenly one comes and swoops in and attacks my head. I had black hair at the time so maybe it was confused? haha. My friend said there was a nest near by and they were known to attack around there when they felt threatened.

the worst part about being attacked by a crowbeast is probably the fact that you see them using their beaks to sift around garbage. ewww. ew. ew .ew. ew. ew.

Yesterday at 'ball practice we saw a crow taking on a squirrel. it was quite the fight! In the end no one really won. I think it was more of a turf war.

Where I live (Homer and nelson) I can get out the backway quickly. Last time I did it, I had a crow swooping down at me, scared the shit out of me the first dive, so I ran out more, and it started following me. What a cocksmoke.

I never use that exit anymore, i'm scarred for life. we should be given guns.

That place is scary as hell, i've been attacked there a few times back when I lived at that place.

I remember a few years back, people were posting about being attacked by crows. There were a whole slew of people responding w/ similar experiences.

Now, w/ one of the largest crow colonies in N. America that roost around the lower mainland (specifically, Deer Lake, where rivers of crows fly to, each evening, darkening the skies over Vancouver and Bridge Studios), experts from across the planet come here to study them.

They are highly intelligent. Use tools. Are extensively social, and have life-long monogamous partners. Have a sense of humour, and tend to fuck w/ other animals, just for the helluvit!

i can't speak for all birds (i can't speak for birds literally) but in regard to crows.... there is that whole thing i experienced when i worked at eBay where a year before we chopped down all of their trees to build office buildings. that resulted in THOUSANDS of crows hanging out at eBay because that's their hood....

I also remember living at my old apartment in collingwood and seeing a friend get attacked by a crow. vicious little things. But yeah, wtf is up with the crows in the morning?! SO LOUD! after 5:30 those bastards are in full choir. haven't been attacked though.
