I can't stand it when people say you can't "rat someone else". Fuck that you totally can in some cases.

Guy jumps you in the street, runs off. You have no way of dealing with it yourself. You are allowed to tell the cops.

Guy breaks into your car and steals your deck (or pogs). You are allowed to tell the cops (not that they care)

Guy leaves messages on your machine with no chance for you to say or do anything. You are allowed to have the police step in so that you can learn who the guy is.

Saying, you don't rat no matter what just means you're easily played.

im not saying you cant rat because of some unwritten rule or any of that bullshit. im saying it because its a waste of fucking time. IF the authorities did something about it, it would be little to nothing, would take too long, and is a waste of THEIR time. i personally try to settle things on my own so that the police can concentrate on crime, not highschool drama.

It would put it on the public record. If the harassment continues then that report could be brought to civil court, could result in a do-not-communicate restraining order if it becomes a big problem.

Same thing happened to me. It doesn't take them much time. They tell you to dial * (something or other) and it flags the calls. At the end of the week they ask you who it was.

Like Dave said, it creates a public record if it gets out of hand, and lets you know who's doing it. It doesn't take the cops too long to do either.
