ugh today was a horrible day for Transit! About 3 blks away from the bus stop that I was waiting at there is a High School and it was just after 3pm. Keeping in mind that this stop that I was at is about 10 stops away from the Skytrain still which is where the majority of the kids get off. I really don't understand why bus drivers let like 60 kids on ALL at once filling up the entire bus when there are still ppl waiting at the 10 other stops before the skytrain? Needless to say I waited as 4 buses passed and the stop I was at accumulated 4x the ppl that were there from the first bus passing. When the 5th bus finally came still only a 1/4 of the ppl were able to get on. Our transit system really needs to smarten up!

after all building more freeways has solved the traffic problems in every other major city in North America. LA is a great example of urban planning using more highways.

I took urban geo last year and Vancouver is never going to have good enough public transportation.

Vancouver's transportation isn't that bad compared to other cities. In the end, any public transportation seems awful when you rely on it day in and day out, no matter how good it is. The only thing I've seen yet to rival the skytrain is Montreal's metro system.

And geographically those cities are Grids, with a transportation system that has evolved over the century. Look at a map of the lower mainland, it's close to impossible to serve it properly. It's made up of spread out population centers.
