this deal makes complete sense and I for one am very happy. from what I've heard they will be taking a 5-7 million cap hit and it's a 1 year deal. this gives them a 6 foot 5 elite center ice man. he has been a point a game guy his whole career and is in good health leading me to believe that he should be able to continue that. keep in mind this is a one year deal. and by no means is this the final deal that needs to be made. even with Mats added to the mix I think we are likely to see another forward added to the group and definitely another defenseman or even two.

the Canucks will still have 3-5 million under the cap they can spend on trade deadline players. which if you keep in mind the pro rated nature that that carries it keeps the door open to just about anyone they can get.
