Sometimes its better to educate your kids how to properly do things rather than letting them learn the wrong way on their own. Kind of like the purpose of sex ed.

I trained in MMA as a kid - before it was really called MMA or it was a big thing. I went to a multi-disciplinary gym where I trained in Tae Kwon Do, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Kickboxing, and Hapkido.

One of the best things my parents ever did for me. I made lifelong friends, gained self-confidence, stayed fit and healthy, challenged myself and had a lot of fun.

In a proper environment I think it's great!

for sure. how much would you really know about your kid if you've never seen him fight.

but seriously. fighting can train kids in a lot of disciplines that plain old parenting may never achieve. also i figure fat, lazy parents should encourage their kids to train in sports. period. as to prevent them into developing into their indolent makers.

fighting is a metaphor for life.

the idea is not to assault ppl, but to learn what healthy and controlled aggression is.

It's kinda like that fight club quote.

After you've been in a fight, it kinda turns down the volume on the other things in life that used to scare or bother you.

We weren't allowed to do wresteling at my school after the gym teacher thought it would be funny for the first match to team up the football team's defensive back with the smallest kid in the school.

A few broken bones later we ended up playing volleyball.

^ packing a machete seems more practical, but i hear what you're saying. i'm assuming some training or rappelling wouldn't hurt either. you know, you have to know how to use a carabiner and a figure 8 just incase they ever get cornered up on a roof top, cliff side, bridge or if they ever need to descend from a helicopter.
