Yeah, Vancouver has a ton of rad unique sushi experiences. The boats are kinda alright but honestly I'd rather they made it when I order.

Anyway, sorry we can't help you, it really seems that Tsunami is it.

Eatery is awesome (and I'm not just saying that cuz I work there) and so is Kadoya on Davie street. Particularly the deep fried banana dessert roll (instead of roe it's topped with poprocks).

gimmicky sushi bah don't waste your time. The Sashimi isn't supposed to smell like an old fish tank.

There are tonnes of better sushi places in Vancouver like Alpha or Kaide on Richards, all the usual Izakaya places, or the places on Robson near Denman for daytime eats. If you're ever in White Rock try Kappa. The Eatery is a great group place too as mentioned, the sushi is pretty different but some of it, like Kadoya, is too crazy for me with the ranch sauces and bacon or whatever. I think I saw mustard once on something at Kadoya wtf?

gah eatery is not good sushi. it's decent food and cheap but it's not good sushi by any stretch of the imagination.

take your friend to Toshi on main and 16th, Shiro on cambie, Shijo on 4th, or if you can afford it, Tojo's on broadway.
