have you actually seen this under a microscope? because from every magazine article I've ever read, it's always said that "cold water closes up your cuticles and makes it shinier" is biggest hair myth #X.

My advice in regards to my hair colourist: Depending on the original colour of your hair, you should pick out a shade of brown that is a little darker than your original hair colour. This will help mask out the "red" that you wanna get rid of.

Leaving the hair colour for 40 mins is fine, if you want a deeper colour. The "bleach" in the *London Drugs/Shopper's Drug Mart* brand is so low, it won't do much damage on your hair too much. The percentage of peroxide is around 15-20%, whereas hair salons use a basic 30-40% brand.

I just colored my hair with "Very Ash Blonde" for approx. 1 hour. Let's just say my hair is still on my head. :hehe: Just a reminder, that those drugstore products only have a life line of 1 hour, so there's no need to leave it in for longer than that.

Hope that helps :kimmie:

should i go for a dark dark brown or what??

The reason it didnt get rid of it is u need a color to neutralize the red, meaning the base of the colour has to be green. (colour wheel). It will basically cancel it out so u get a neutral tone. But u dont want the green based colour on the rest of your hair else itll be a ugly muddy brown colour. If u r going to do it at home put a dark brown on that SHOULD cover it. But itll be really hard to remove it if u eva want to go lighter. If u want to keep it a medium brown u should get it done professionaly, drug store colours r sketchy if u dont know what yer doing. u dont know the bases of the colour or how strong they are.....

^^ then you could blowdry with cool air, rather than hot.

i don't know if warm water whatever really does open up the end or not, but if you rinse your hair in cooler water, and give your hair a once over with coolheat after you blowdry, it does make it look nicer... at least, it does with my hair anyways. not a huge dif, but it does make it nicer..

Thats what happens when yer hair is really pourous....dry. :(It sucks up the colour, and turns dark. It can also be a chemical reaction to the different dyes. If u do not want it black, here r some thangs u can do.
Wash yer hair lots with a proffesional shampoo and a really good deep conditoner, it will help it fade up a little and make it heathier. Then to remove it u should get some proffesional help. I do hair, but something like what u need is pretty expensive, cos it takes along time, like $200 - $250. If u dont want to pay that much i ahve assistants at the salon where i work and they do services at a reduced cost www.statiksalon.com <--- I think the prices are on the web site. Maybe $30-$40 for product cost? Which is probably about the amount u have alrady spent on home dye. The assistants are fully supervised by us and theyll do a wicked job. Or u could check out a hair school. They are all supervised by proffesional stylists so u should be ok :) Good LUck

OR
:hair:keep it black it is kewl too:hair:
