Tickets for driving violations start at $175 I think...though my first ticket only cost $115 (cops decided to give me a "break" because it was my first time but I think it was because they only caught me by "fluke" [long story])

Actually, they start at $58, but the majority of tickets are $86/$98/$144..

Transit tickets are always $46..

my older sister used to work for the RCMP and had access to speeding files. So when my mom got a ticket my sis just went and erased the file, it was quite awsome, but then she decided not to work there anymore.. hmmmm

$46 isnt that bad, just be happy that it wasnt a $150 fine or something.. hehehehe

yeah no shit im just glad ive never been busted any of the times ive been driving double or triple the limit.

i dont want to go to jail or have my car towed.

Ah I'd rather risk getting caught than waste $$ on a radar detector. I had one for awhile and it always went off beeping non-stop everywhere I drove, cuz of automatic doors. Second, when a cop really was lurking around it never went off cuz I'm guessing the cop turned his/her radar thing off.

I got a speeding ticket in California 3 years ago and on their tickets they don't tell you how much it is. You have to phone in and thats when you get the bad news. My ticket was 500 USD. I wanted to fight it but that meant I had to fly back to Los Angeles and go to court or they said that I could go to traffic school and the ticket would be voided. Lets just say I paid the ticket. So after all the long distance calls (no toll free number) and my ticket, my final bill came to 800CAD. I was pissed!!

So don't get caught speeding in California.
