Blair and Bush up for Nobel prize Mr Bush and Mr Blair face competition from the Pope Tony Blair and George Bush have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for waging war on Saddam Hussein. The pair have been put forward by a Norwegian politician who said toppling the Iraqi dictator had reduced the threat of weapons of mass destruction. It had also laid the foundations for a democratic Iraq, said Jan Simonsen of the right-wing Party of Progress. Anti-war campaigners condemned the move as "completely unbelievable" and said it made a mockery of the prize. It shows the stupidity of this peace prize that it is given to people for starting wars rather than stopping them Stop the War Coalition Other nominees for the award include the European Union and the Pope. The winner will be announced by the five-member Norwegian awards committee on 10 December. Andrew Burgin, of the Stop the War Coalition, said: "This is completely unbelievable. It shows the stupidity of this peace prize that it is given to people for starting wars rather than stopping them." Nominations for the award closed on Sunday. Although the list is secret, those making the nominations often go public with their choices. Last year's prize was won by Iranian lawyer Shirin Ebadi, 56, who was the first Muslim woman to be afforded the honour. She won the $1.4m prize for her work for the rights of women and children in Iran. Her award aroused huge controversy in Iran where right-wing papers denounced the prize as part of a foreign plot to pressure Tehran. Ms Ebadi was the first female judge in her country, but was forced to resign following the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

wow....its not overly surprising...taking sadaam outta iraq has has a positive outlook on the future for the country i dont c how u all feel "sick" n all.....bush may b n "idiot" but i c war with iraq as somthing that has and will help the country overcome decades of bein run by a tyrant madman...jus my 2 cents...if ya cant take if for wuts it worth than :finger:

I totally value your point of view..i dunno...i'm just uncomfortable with the idea of someone who started a war winning the nobel peace prize..seems to go down the opposite road
But i can see where you are coming from, I think taking Saddam down and out of the picture will benefit the country in the long run, i just don't think that Bush or Blair should get a 'peace' prize for it.

I've heard that story 800 times. Some Norwegian guy was smoking too much Norwegian wacky herb and went and nominated Bush and Blair.
Neither of them are going to win the prize in a million kajillion fucking years. Can you imagine the international outrage? It would essentially permanently devalue the award.

Yeah, its an insult to anyone who has ever won a Nobel Prize in the past. Bush is some guy who looks like a little lost puppy and he only became president because daddy was. His war has killed how many americans now? 700 or so. He prolly doesnt care all the much. Thing i hate most about him tho is that church and state are supposed to be separate, but he goes around God this and God that, spending tons of money on churches and faith based organizations instead of getting his ass out of a huge ass deficit. Like what the fuck it the man thinking. He's already turned many countries against the US cuz he thinks he's this almighty guy because its America and we rule the world. what a dipshit. I think that the world would be better off if that last plane on 9/11 had actually made it to camp david and landed on the ignorant son of a bitch...

The only reason why Bush invaded Iraq was for the OIL...not to free the people under the Sadaam regime. This was because the presidents father was unable to defeat Hussein in the previous bout. Hence why George Bush is getting all the fame for the capture of Hussein. In my opinion, Bush created fraud to take oil instead of finding weapons of mass destruction....if u ask me, Sadaam's wonderful breathe would be enough proof of a WOMD **gross**
