I'm reviving this thread....hopefully...only because I just finished an awesomely weird and well written book.

Go out and read LEMON by Lawrence Krauser.

it's about a guy that finds a lemon and then grows an unusual attachment to it. he becomes like obsessed with it and the whole book is about his relationship with this lemon and how it affects his life and work and family and friends. it's really interesting.

the writer is so good that he makes this relationship actually seem normal and not weird.

Its a damn good book. The BBC made it into a six episode miniseries which is also the shit.

Actually, the BBC originally made the miniseries with Gaiman on the writing staff. This book is actually just a novelisation (Which explains why it kind of reads like a TV show)
