I just heard on the fox that there was some sort of explosion at bcit? anyone know anythin about this?

Ya, I work right across the street.

We just heard a boom and the windows shook.

I took a walk to see what was up and all that is out there is media and cops, I didn't see smoke or anything so I'm still unsure....apparently the explosion was in the welding building.

oh, and any commuters should avoid Canada Way on the way home if they can, it's realllly backed up

Explosion Rocks BCIT

An explosion has rocked the BCIT campus in Burnaby. We don't have many details yet, but one witness called our newsroom to tell us, he heard the boom at about 2:15 this afternoon. He says the ground shook and there was debris all over the place. At least one person has apparently been treated by first-aid attendants at the scene. It's believed the building involved housed one of BCIT's trades schools.

I drove past the school shortly after it happened, there were cops blocking part of Willingdon and every entrance into the school, it was chaos.

could be. as they were teaching steam engineering there, i'd say that it was likely a boiler explosion. though, if it were, there would have been a lot of fatalities and very little left of the building.
