anyone like art shows?

if so...then you should come to Re.Design on saturday night from 8-10. tickets are only 30 bucks and the stuff on display should be pretty hype.

tickets can be bought from ticket master.

the show will take place at Sugar and Sugar in gastown. the studio is amazing to say the least. you can go to the website and check out the actual place.

"First, take some creative students/professionals, mix with a ridiculous amount of inspiration, stir in a ton of passion for design, add a few famous pieces of work from world-class artists and top it off with a good cause. Incubate for 8 weeks (while running all over the city looking for sponsorship and support from the community) and what you get is one of Vancouver's most cutting-edge design exhibitions ever hosted. Supported by local and international artists, work has been donated from such people as Stefan Sagmeister, Scott Pommier and local photographer Daniel J. Collins. Submissions range from print/industrial design, artwork and photography to multimedia installations from International media artist, and Simon Fraser University PhD candidate Robb Lovell. re:design is bringing you hot design, wicked photography and the newest experience of Vancouver's innovative arts culture

re:design is a one-night event taking place on May 15th with doors open to the public at 8pm. Brothers Jason and Damon Sugar have offered their support by holding the event at their designer space, Sugar and Sugar. The ambition can't be denied! Event Director Travis Kirton says "We want to create an event that highlights the awesome work being created in Canada, supports local artists, exposes Vancouver's top talent and creates such a stir that we can continue to support the community in the future." Adam Bognar, Senior Designer, says "This will be a showcase of creativity at the edge of innovation. We want to strengthen the Canadian design community and provide international exposure for Canadian artists."

there's a bunch of vancouver based artists/photographers/graphic designers and toronto based ones as well. I have a couple of peices in the show....

come out and see the show with Aki and I...and then come get drunk with us at shine for a caitlin's, esi's, maryah's, myra's, and jeff's birthdays.

^ Sorry, what's your point?

Ever thought of art for art's sake? Or is that far too postmodern for your liking?

besides...post modern shit usually has political (and occasionally social) undertones.

the series of mine being presented this saturday is purely aesthetic in respect to composition and design...if anything, my stuff leans towards modernism and formalism (an emphasis on form).

please don't try and classify my work as something it is not. it makes me sad and then i have to make you look stupid :(

Okay buddy, tell you what, you go draw a line on a piece of paper and go call it art if you want to, I am not trying to classify your "work"...you've already done that.

I don't think I have ever not met someone so full of themselves before (Sammy). And hopefully I never do meet you because I think I might have to spit in your face.

Thirty bucks!?!

There is no shortage of FREE art shows in town - why on earth would I pay thirty bucks to hang out with a bunch of pretentious, snobby art types?

well that's just it...you haven't met me before, pumpkin.

everyone that actually knows me knows that i'm the exact opposite of being full of myself...i just like to play up the bitch factor on occassion.

besides, love, if you were to meet me, you wouldn't be spitting in my face because you'd be too busy kissing my feet.

anywho.... i'm going to shine that night. and my brother is in town. so im going to do my best to get him to buy me a ticket so we can go together. i want to go reeeeaaaaallllllllllllllly bad. i think - no i know - there will be alot of work there that i NEED to see.

can we get tickets at the door?

i dunno...i'm gonna email the guy putting on the show to ask him cuz a few of my other friends are asking me the same question as well.

it'd be so hype if you could come. we could all meet up before hand and go together or something. and then drink our faces off at shine

If I were as fucking talented as Sammy, I'd be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more full of myself than he is.

And anyone who disagrees is JEALOUS.
