check out gmail.com. it's like a hotmail address, but from google and it gives you a gig of storage space.

its through google, it allows you to have free email that can send high volumes of stuff... if you have to send jpegs or big files alot then its hella nice to have

gmail is blah
why dont people use their isp email accounts anymore? unlimited storage and unlimited attatchment size. besides, who wants to use http email to send big files? FTP/DCC is much better.

ISP accounts don't give you unlimited storage; there's no such thing.

get a client that lets you leave your mail on the server, voila, unlimited storage.

ahhaha, a little, yeah. but seriously, your isp is subject to the same server-side storage limitations that gmail is. the only difference is that your isp won't allocate you 1 gig of storage for your mailbox. call them and ask if you don't believe me. :)

seeing as how i've never needed 5mb of storage for my email, it doesnt really matter to me. that doesnt change the fact that gmail is blah

Telus gives you 15MB. Anything more and you have to pay extra. I'm not arguing that gmail is not blah, just saying that you don't get unlimited storage or attachment size with your ISP, like you said. If you're not going to use the storage its not a big deal, but if you might, then gmail is great (and free). That's all I'm saying. :)

i looked at my isps site for email usage, but it has no info. either way dcc/ftp is where the real file transfers are :)
