stretching earring holes
how do i go about doing this properly. i have a 12 gauge earring in there now (I believe) and my new one is a 10. I heard just to shove it in but it doesn't wanna co-operate. i also have one of those tapered stretching things.... do I just slide it right through slowly?

I've had my ears stetched for a little over 5 and a half years now
I was at a 00 gauge before (the size in my avatar pic) down to sporting 4 gauge bone spirals now. I would suggest going to a piercing salon to get it done. Costs more, but normally they will cut you deals and allow you to trade jewellary so that it cut costs down for you. If you do it yourself you run the risk of having them get infected which recently happened to a friend of mine and trust me...it aint pretty. |

you can do it yourself with a taper that will take you to a 10...make sure you clean it and lube it up and then slowly slide it through your 12...if it hurts at any point, stop, because this means you're tearing your ear and not stretching it, which will result in scar tissue.
but if you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself, just go to a piercing place and they'll do it for like five-ten bucks and save you the hassle. good luck! :D |

I'd go get it in a piercing place, pref. where you got the jewellery from, they can slide in a taper pin to make it much easier
If you're still stubborn, just play with your jewellery lots (w/ clean hands please), it'll make the holes slightly bigger. |

if you have tubes, just put non-adhesive strips of tape around the jewlery every day, keep adding layers on until you meet the required size of the next piece of jewlery. Or you can spend $5 each time you wanna stretch your ears at the shop. This would include trading in your old piece for a new one.
