Racist T-Shirt Allowed into Canada....

I was reading the paper this morning and there was an article about this T-shirt that some company imported. Basically it's a HUGE racial slur but it's being allowed in because it presents an opinion and does not incite hatred.

I fucking HATE: Spics, Dotheads, Honkeys, Japs, Wops, Kikes, Wetbacks, Gooks, Chinks, Camel Jockeys and the French ---- BUT I (HEART SYMBOL) ******S!

Basically customs said its offensive but it is a personal opinion and not an attempt to make others hate. If the phrase had ended with something like 'and you should too' then it would have been a different story.

You also have to consider that for the most part us white folk don't have to deal with racism in Canada. For some asian guy who moved his family here for a better life it may be a different story.

I'm not offended at being called a honkey because I can take it as a joke and as a general rule I don't have to deal with racism on a daily basis, if ever. When you call an asian a chink, gook, whatever.... they most likely take it a lot harder.

I think that the shirt is basically just someone printing it to get a rise... I mean if you are able to make a quick buck off the wasted youth angst why not? Just like the shirts that simply say "fuck" on them; I mean there is no message it is just so that some angry youth will think "HEY! That is rebelious lets buy that!" Least that is my theory...

racism isnt racism until theres a power relationship involved. a black man calling a white man a cracker isnt racism because the white man is a member of the dominant group. that is unless the black man is an employer and the white man an employee or other similar circumstances.
