my favorite classy place downtown is probably parkside (I've bigups'd it many other times on here)
http://www.parksiderestaurant.ca/ anywhoo. they have good food, excellent service and amazing drinks. I could go as far as to say they are among the best in the city. Their ruby slipper martini contains real homemade rasperry sorbet! Their Mr. Pink has fresh watermelon in it! Doooon't even get me started on their burbon sour, and yes, I can appreciate the value of a decent burbon sour. Oh, and if you take a girl on a date there, it's a pretty safe guarantee you're going to come out looking pretty good after that. it's pricey, but it's well worth it. I'm going there tomorrow night for their dine out vancouver thing, sooo stoked! |

Best places to eat hands down:
Thai: Thai Away Home -Davie and bute I think. Not spicy if you have the pad thai or other dishes Singapore: Kam's Place -Between Davie and Thurlow. Great 5.00 lunch specials and you can grab a two for one entree special from the Straight for dinner. Japanese: Guu or Gyoza King -Someone already mentioned Shabusen, but if you want a REALLY FUCKING GOOD Japanese Cuisine experience, go to either of these restaurants. Best to go with a good friend who knows the cuisine, cause they have so much to choose from. Several locations near Robson. Chinese: Hon's -Feels like you're in a cafeteria, but good to the last bite Chinese food. Their potstickers are a daily staple at my house. Breakfast The Elbow Room/ Melriches in Yaletown / Zachery's on Robson -You'll have to figure out which one is best, cause I love them all. Atkin's lovers / Brazillian Samba's on Alberni - 13.95 all you can eat rodizio barbeque and pasta/salad bar. you cannot get any better than this. Drinks/tapas DV8 / 555 - one's upscale, one has kept it's haunting artsy interior for years. Great place to go drinking til 4 in the morning. Honorable mention: Subeez - Not cheap but chill environment Fusion cuisine/lounge Bin 941/942 - Now there's so many of these to choose from and each has their own flavor, but I"ve never gone wrong with the food at these establishments... mmm balsamic vinagrette reduction... I think you've got quite a lot to chew on and I could go on... I should become a food critic, I swear to god. Best of luck with the restaurant hunting |

Does anyone know what the name of that little Jazz resturant is in gas town? It's in the older portion, tucked in the corner of a square-type area, it's open and they usually have live jazz, and a two page martini list. Anyone know what its name? |

But considering I am a steak lover I have to agree with whoever said Gotham's. They have damn good steak. |
