respect to kubrick, movies like full metal jacket and clockwork orange, when i see them i get a creepy feeling. Its nice to see someone that was makin movies that were original, unlike most of the movies that are made today, with the exact same plot

bevan: yeah, full metal jacket has to be one of the best war movies i've ever seen. i just like how he focusses on the whole de-humanizing of the soldiers in vietnam. |

Kubrick is deffinetly my favorite director. His vision for breath-taking shot is unparalleled. I could (and have) put his movies on mute and just marvel at the his visual creations. He has been my fave for a while too. A Clockwork Orange is my fave movie all time.
Did any of you guys see A.I. (artificial intelligence)? I heard Kubrick began working on it right before he died and never finished it. Apparently Steven Speilberg finished it. The funny thing is I harsh noticed the begining was very Kubrick-esque, dark, errie, with a sense of urgency and all that but the end was typical hollywood shit. hahah it seemed like you could see the division of the two directors as the movie progressed. |

although the ending isn't really my favourite thing...it does seem like something kubrick would do. he has a tendancy to get kind of kooky near the end of his movies. most of his movies have a very distinctive 3 Act forumla...and AI wasn't really much different from that. think of the ending to Space Odyssey or the last part of Eyes Wide Shut...it wouldn't surprise me at all if the ending of AI was Kubrick's imagination. |
