Why do so many people think wanting to have children is selfish????

I think it is one of the most un-seflish things a person could do during their lifetime. Yes you do experience lots of love and joy (i'm hoping most people do atleast) but you put everything else on the back burner for your kids. You devote a large part of your life to them and have to please someone other than yourself. Kids are very demanding, and require parents to have a lot of patience and effort to raise them well.

I've always wanted to have a family of my own, and even more so after working in a daycare. Just being around children and getting to see the simplicity of life through their eyes is magical. The older I get the more I appreciate everything my parents have done for me, and one day I hope that I'll be able to raise my own kids even half as well as them.

wanting kids due to selfishness doesn't have to be a bad thing, most people just associate it that way

usually the first thing that comes to mind are people who want kids for attention or other bad reasons and don't think or care about being a good parent

It's fucking impossible to do anything in this world without some form of self-serving.

If your desire is to feel better about yourself because you raised a kid that is doing something in the world, why exactly is that such a bad thing?
