amen gusty. i started a thread called "nammers?" to get any vitnamese peoples attention, but i didnt at all mean it in a derogatory sense. in fact, i was asking for tips about how to cook a vietnamese sausage. i call siome of my black buddies negro and ****** and all that sort of thing, but since i dont mean it at all in derogatory sense, its laughed at instead of frowned.

but dont take this as advice and call the next black guy you see a ****** cos hell prolly cap yo ass. but you get my point. as long as there is no negativity directed at the race itself, then its not racism.

my point isn't just to do with the word. it's more the careless disregard of what that word, along with others mean to some people. i understand the concept of taking the power out of a word, but i have as much of a problem hearing people refer to chinese as 'chinks' when they 'don't mean it like that, it's just a word'
as i do when someone says the exact same thing, and they MEAN it.
no matter the reasons behind saying it, it's a term designed to be offensive, and i disagree with it's usage.

I personally dont find nammer being racist but thats just me. It's probably because the word has been so mainstream now and is attatched to the vietnamese race. Just like the word hongers has been so mainstream now too. I guess another reason I dont find this racist or offensive is that viet people all use this word and are totally fine with people labeling any viet raced person as a nammer. Iono just my thought.
