as far as i'm concerned, this word equates with any other racial slur i can think of, but i see people on here use this word all the time, as if they feel its ok.

am i the only person who finds this word offensive?

It is most definitely offensive, when it's used in a negative manner. However, it has become such a Raver pop term that the younger gens don't even assume it to be derogatory! So what you get is a nasty buzz word that only snowballs as years go by.

I did see the post in question which fired up this thread. I would agree it was an offensive use. Still you can't win fighting against every clicky group catch fraise! Sometimes you have to let it slide and know your doing your part not to keep it alive.

i dont really find any of those words racist anymore people say them so much, including the people there directed to they have kinda lost there negative meaning and have become just another word.

it sounds bad but im way to mellow to get worked up over people saying shit like that

hope that doesnt make me a racist, cause i would NEVER bust these words out in front of someone if i thought they might take the slightest offense too. But im white and i have native buddies who call me cracker and shit all the time i dont think anything of it.

kno what you mean. like on one hand it's just a word associated with a particular group of people. such as......children, or working class, or artists, or ravers....fucking ravers. but on the other hand...it can sound totally degrading. interesting discussion, something to think about. i personally am very careful about using the term and have only used it a handful of times around a couple of close friends while in conversation about certain parties. and only cause i heard them use it and i knew that we all understood connotations surrounding the word.

if i say that to any of those nationalities... i am racist... but if they say it to their own race.. their not racist.. how do u figure?

if someone of a diff nationality says those words in a negative way... we (as a society) label them racist..
but, for example... if a vietnamese person says "that fucking nammer is gonna get shot" that IS racist.. but since both people are of the same nationality.. it's not considered racism.. and in our society.. even though we preach about how racism is bad... it's only directed towards different nationalities attacking eachother... actually i stand corrected... black people make fun of white people all the time..and it's "funny"... and if white people make fun of black people.. it's "racist".

we live in a fucked up world.

I don't walk on egg shells, can express myself quite easily and for that matter be completely offensive all the while not being racist. Excessive use of swear words or overt racism is generally associated with a lack of education and or being low class. After all fuck is the most versatile word I know of...
