Being a non-smoker, I appreciate that riverside is a better venitlated venue, with the outside being a designated smoking area. I know ppl smoke inside too, but atleast there's less smoke and the option to go outside for REAL air. Maritimes' "smoke pit" is blue with smoke.

both.. theres upside and downside for both venues..
upside for RaVeRsIdE is that it has n outdoor smoke pit. downside for RaVeRsIdE is that upstairs gets moisty n sweaty, and the walls start drippin. other than that. its a good venue. upside for maratime is that there its on one floor. downside. it gets HOT real easly, and the main area gets filled with smoke. good venue overall:). just needs a HUGE A/C unit, and bigger smoke pit. |

I like Riverside because of the fact that it's possible to book better and bigger dj's. Line ups that are just not possible for Maritime Labour Ctr.
I've been to some amazing shows at Riverside so it definatly has potential. The parties just need a little attention and love by the promoters. There are just so many more possibilities that can be done because of the bigger space and bigger budget to work with. I even like it better than The PNE because it's possible to actually achieve a good vibe there, feels more like a rave rather than a big stadium. There's very little venues out there that are legalled allowed to hold raves. If people stop supporting Riverside parties, then their won't be parties there anymore. Then we'll have one less venue to party at. Imagine only the PNE and Maritime to choose from! I remember when everyone used to bitch about The Plaza of Nations, People said Good Riddance, now we all wish it was back! The only people still saying Good Riddance are bitter old know it all's who don't party anyway. Stop listening to them I also remember about The Chiliwack Heritage Building with a 10 000 person capacity! (Double the PNE) Sure it was far and kind of cold.....not perfect But if more people supported it and accepted it as a huge venue maybe we'd see SummerBreaks Style Line ups or even much much bigger in that building during the other seasons! People drive from Seattle for hours to get to old crappy warehouses and don't complain, we're actually lucky! But instead everyone complained......it hasn't been used since. Lets support the venues we have so we don't limit our choices even more! Riverside and Maritime are both good venues (although they have flaws) I'd rather see parties at both of them |

exactly!
I think if more promoters too a chance with that Chiliwack venue people would realize that awsome parties can be accomplished there. Especially now that they understand there's not many other places if any you could throw such a cool party Imagine Armin van Burren Busta Rhymes Eric Morillo & Andy C and many more at one party There's not one venue in Vancouver that can support a line up like that. The Heritage Hall could, if people were willing to drive for an hour from Vancouver. |

Dave lets dooooooo it. Sit down and collaborate an effort.
Honestly, you are right, why more promoters don't use that venue is beyond me. Even though I say this, there has not yet been an opportunity for us to use this venue again. But really, most of the rave fan base right now is in the Valley. I sell more tickets through Replay than any other ticket outlet. I find it silly that we continue to limit ourselves to 3 venues. THREE! |

When we used it for Spooky, that was somewhat of a trial run for everyone. We had some wicked ideas and even more now that we had the chance with the venue. The shuttle service was pretty fricken cool I thought... |

The only massive issue and in turn potentially expensive consideration, is sound bleeding from either stage when more than one stage is in one room. Something to bare in mind! |

That is a major issue - I agree. But do you remember the original plans of back to back. You could still get 8 stages in there with the back to back sound curtained concept. Which would allow more capacity as it wouldn't be blocking the fire exits. Which if I remember correctly was an issue.
The only down fall - the dirt floors, one would be hard packed, and one covered. It is an amazing venue. Not to mention, the management was fabulous to deal with. And reasonable rent. In fact, amazing rent. And the stuff we got to use out there. Remember the trailer stage? Like for country shows? |
