in 2003, when I lived in halifax, we got hit by a hurricane, I was without power for 12 days, some people went well over 2 weeks.... it was insane!

And, make sure you have batteries for a walkman w/ tuner for info/updates.

being without power can be fun, i like the aspect of candle light, quiet and scrabble/crib/cardgames...but after awhile i'd go a little stir crazy without power, hot water and white noise :p
