Glowsticking?

People bashing this guy for asking an honest question about part of rave culture on a rave related board are being dicks.

Glowsticking is an art form in and of itself, but it is heavily influenced by liquid. If you want to get good at glowsticking, I recommend that you learn basic liquid first and the rest will follow. A good resource for beginners can be found at www.reflective.net, in the liquid pop collective newbie forum.

I think people just dont appreciate having to deal with drug addled assholes. At raves, these assholes will sometimes cling to glowing things. I guess its kinda givin the practice of dancing with glowsticks a bad name. Since these hopped up lunatics cant help but behave abonoxiously with a glowstick in their grip.

Im still farely fresh to the scene, personally i've never had a problem with anything like that.
I still think glowsticks are sweet. When you see the people who really know how to use them, i think it adds to the atmosphere. It certainly doesnt detract from it in anyway.

I'd agree, I think they do add atmosphere to the scene.
Normally I'd say they're just part of the fun.

I'm sure there are some pricks out there doing stupid stuff with them, but I doubt it's an across the board kind of thing.
Seriously,if you really really hate them, perhaps the bar is more your scene.

It is not too often I get to bump myself into threads like these...but because it is a glowsticking one and find myself been fortunate to know how most lightshows work, I can definitely say that glowsticking is fun. I know for a fact that I can do more tricks with sticks than most other people can. The best thing, for now, I can share with you is to learn how to do some LIQUID first. Once you get your hand movements in rythm with the music, then add in the glowsticks. I know that some newbs at glowsticks do this but they forget that even though their liquiding is good, they tend to cover the glosticks with their hand. Keep the sticks exposed as much as you can, and only move the sticks fast when it is the right time. I wish I could hit up a party and show you personally...but I am not partying as much as I used to to be able to do the glowsticking stuff. If you can, one other tip...bring in like 12 glowsticks into the party. Great lightshow givers always try to keep and rotate a fresh pair of sticks once every hour and a half. That way they when they are done using one pair of sticks, they throw em at someone who is too messed up to notice *fucking ravers* hahah =)

POI in this context is glowstringing. You know, those ravers with strings attached to their glowsticks.

It can look cool, but those people TAKE UP TOO MUCH ROOM. Plus sometimes they smack people with them! To be honest I usually just get irritated when I see glowstringing going on at an indoor party. Outdoors is a different thing.

Try ordering any of the "Liquid Pop Collective" videos. That is what i used to help me with my liquid and then i just kinda threw in some glowsticks and it looks pretty good. i dont usually use any glowsticks becasue they just end up being a pain in the ass after a bit.

Dave, you know I am good..actually Dave, your lightshows are really good too! I think still think you can liquid better than me though :D But somehow I do more acrobatic stuff with my glowsticks..that is why I am more diverse in my tricks when it comes to lightshows :mexitoke: =)
