ouch, someone got a little too trigger happy on ebay and bid on it without reading the description.

people who put ads like that on ebay are assholes, seriously, thats a bitch thing to do.

i dont know how ebay works, but i would just refuse to pay him and get bad feedback, but im not sure what would happen after that.

Yeh it is sort of a bitchy thing to do, but he really did label it BOX only a million times. The guy who bid got screwed hardcore!

yeah he CLEARLY stated you were getting the BOX ONLY, but he KNOWS that someone will see it quickly and bid on it, so really its still a scam in my eyes.

well it is sort of a scam as the listing for the cardboard box is in "video game systems." Yea people should read the listings, but the scammers neverinclude the actual product in the title and only have a couple lines about it in the description.

There was people listing things like pictures of XBox 360s, e-mail addresses and domain names - but all in the wrong section designed to have overzealous buyers purchase their ridiculous items thinking they would get a real xbox 360. There was actually some guy bidding on all these items in an attempt to keep these scammers from profiting on people's stupidity.

Same thing happened 5 years ago with the PS2 shortage.

he made it clear though, he is selling his concept of what he thought the box would look like. its the people's fault for bidding on it. you should always read the auction from top to bottom before bidding. and then read it over again because while being excited you may miss a few details.

actually hundreds of these stupid bidders did pay. I know cause i work for ebay and me and a few other selected people in our department has been working on the xbox project trying very hard to catch these listings then suspending these sellers indefinately. My 2 cents on these auctions is that the bidders are fucking stupid. yes the sellers intent is to scam people but in most cases it is clearly stated in the auction that you are bidding on a 360 empty box, xbox email address, last generation xbox, or even pictures of the xbox 360. All of these have gone for $100 -$600+ US. Damn it why cant these people learn to read. No need to be trigger happy.
