my buddy Rodeo and I had been eating mushrooms every day for a week solid. Then one day he called me and said he had a bag of shrooms and he was bringing his turntables over. Before he even spun a record he threw me on them and I fell in love with electronica. My first rave I hated the music (all trance and house, but there WAS a wicked psytrance set), had a shitty high because of it and still loved the atmosphere. My second rave I heard drum n bass for the first time and I couldn't believe I'd gone 18 years without hearing that sound.

My dad had those CD's and I always loved them. I started liking electronic music when I first heard sandstorm. My ex introduced me to house and jungle music in 2003 and it is all I have listened to since, DnB and jungle being my music of choice.

NIN introduced me to that dark organic industrial sound. My sister introduced me to prodigy, chem bros, orb, orbital, etc. Then she went away to UVIC in 96, came back some holiday after that and played Aphrodite for me. Love it because it had that hip hop, cheezeball, easy to listen element to it. It was fun times. Then one day on Napster around 98 i heard a dieselboy mix and was completely taken by that tech sound. I had loved electronic music before but not completely obsessed. Never went back.

First cd was technotronic - pump up the jam circa 1989. I still have the cd and it is in PERFECT condition.

I then began my passion of love toward electronica music by none other then listening to mc mario when I first lived in montreal. Every friday night he would host his radio show on mix 96 and played well..... "euro dance". His track selections were awesome.
By then I ended up like artists like 2 unlimited.... Snap .... Jam&Spoon, Pet shop boys, Utah Saints, Stereo MC's, Dr alban, Haddaway
Majority of the media I had were mainly tapes

One of those tapes was 100% dance which you can see the cover and tracks here: http://www.discogs.com/release/499144

I also listened to Chris sheppard and actually had a collection's of the mxes he did and what not....

Its safe to say that I have been listening to electronica since I was about 10

P.S: Remember that song Connected by Stereo Mc's......

I'm gonna get myself
I'm gonna get myself
I'm gonna get myself connected
I ain't gonna go blind
For the light that is reflected
Hear me out
Can ya hear me out
Can ya hear me out...........

this track is now stuck in my head now...

LOL, i remember this tape. I was in grade 5 and we had this party in our class. Being the little shit disturbers we were, this guy and I stole a tape each. He ended up getting Smashing pumpkins Siamese dreams which is what i truly wanted but instead i got stuck with dance mix 93.

ps. wow, the kids of the 90s era. I can't even fathom how this generation is going to play out.

wow my experience was a little more intense,
when i was sixteen an ex girlfreind of mine would'nt stop talking about these raves, so i gave it a chance and i was hooked i used to take e at those times so that intensified the effect. I have seen some wicked dj's i have to say
the funny things is i still like the music especially house and trance so it was';nt all about the drugs they just intensified the effect would i still go to electronic club nights, maybe raves that remains to be (seen

one of my goals is to see daft punk perform, theyw ere definately the starting influence, and while their newest stuff still isn't up to par as their older stuff, it's still catchy and i support it :)

Snap was my first ever cd, so i guess that was my actual first experience. i remember breaking it in half later in life because it was so stupid.

The whole underground techno scene thing I think was introduced to me via the Hacker's Soundtrack: Prodigy, Orbital, Underworld, Carl Cox, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Leftfield, Stereo MC's... Add into that the Mortal Kombat Soundtrack featuring Ben Watkins aka Juno Reactor, and yeah... summer of 96 was probably my most eye-opening when it comes to electronic music.

Actually the other thing that really introduced me to all that shat was also discovering the MOD/demo scene... A friend passed me off Impulse Tracker and a bunch of tracks on a stack of 3.5" disks. I threw it on my parents' handmedown Win3.1 system and later hopped on the internet (Kosmic Free Music Foundation = <3) and grabbed anything I enjoyed.

I did get into the HiNRG stuff of the early 90s but never really discovered the culture behind it until I started hearing about raves in the mid-90s. Course, I used to dance to Herbie Hancock tracks in the living room when I was like 3.
