matéo is a jewel in the roughmatéo is a jewel in the roughmatéo is a jewel in the roughmatéo is a jewel in the rough
Theres some weird reasons to how I got into electronic music. My dad who isnt the most communicative person in the world always used music to bond with his kids. With my brother and sister who are 12 years older then me it was CCR, Boney M, ABBA, Queen and a load of other tunes from the 60, 70's, and 80's. When I was b/w the ages of 7-12 he was going through a bit of a midlife crisis. He was spending alot of money on cars, and clothes trying to feel young again. He hadnt listened to popular music in years and ended up going to A&B sound, getting some advice on whats hip and buying a bunch of dance cds. Out of the cds were a feel keepers which featured such artists as KLF, The Real Mckoy, and Hadaway. My sister who i looked up too at the time liked these tunes also so you could imagine how easy it was for me to form a liking. I remember sitting in the living room with my dad and my sister reciting the rap to "another night" by The Real Mckoy while my dad cut the volume in and out. If they only knew of the Rave dj Mateo that would be unleashed years later..

Sandstorm was like the first ever electronic tune that I enjoyed that I eventually got sick of. And thus began my descent into becoming an elitist asshole.

Erik, I know how you feel about this getting old stuff. Fuck. I first heard Prodigy over a freaking decade ago!

feh.

X-tendamix Dance Mix '92 was the best. KLF - 3am Eternal, Jesus Jones - Right Here, Right Now, Frankie Knuckles - The Whistle Song....

Groove Is In The Heart has been on just about every retro-90s dance compilation made.

they had one at their old location, and then again at their new location until insurance didnt permit them to have it or some jazz.

there was no skate park in that tiny little store!!!

she's getting it confused with that indoor skate thingy down by where monkey mountain used to be, which was NOT replay.

it was quite big...and some ppl i know were throwing a "rave" in there once, but it got shut down because the skate place hadnt paid their rent or somthing and ended up in a house in aldergrove....

replay had a tiny tiny little half pipe thingy in there old locations on princess street then when they moved down to west railway they had even a bigger one but took it down because kids were busting there faces and bones up..... Skunks did go out of business because #1 they let all the kids skate for free to which of course they didn't generate revenue and wasn't able to pay there rent.... Replay then tried to take it over that facility but failed miserably...

Hahah, When I was like 8 I danced to this song in jazz, I can still remember the routine.

I started getting into it when a friend dragged me to summerbreak a few years ago in the pourin rain.. amazingly enough the E made my night fantastic and I was hooked.
