Off to South America!
yeah...its finally hit.
tommorow morning is my flight. this time im going to do alot more travel into boliva and brazil.....hopefully brazil makes wins the world cup. brazil is just going to be apeshit. so this time i reaally wanted to bring a laptop with me to do some location recording and production whilst on the road. also to dj a little bit in the nite clubs. but since im hitting the road so hard this time i decided at the last moment NOT to bring it. instead i purchased a maudio 24/96 microtrack feild recorder to make recordings and gather as many samples as possible...particularly when im in the amazon....I'll edit it all when i come back home and into my studio. also...i will be shooting as much miniDV footage i can about backpacking. i will interveiw backpackers,tourisits,hostel owners,guides,locals,police,venders,trav elers,vegabonders ect. my goal is to put together a little SA travel log, and add to my portfolio to become a ENG camera op or a photo journalist. shooting will be done on a panasonic pvgs300 3ccd camera. still shots will be taken with a canon rebelxt with a 18-55 and a 75-300mm lense kit. location audio and samples done with a Maudio-24/96 feild recorder In terms of video editing im a complete NOOb so if any of you have some good skills at video editing and production perhaps you could help me out when i return. hopefully everyting will go ok and work out... see you all in a few months!:) john this is the kit i will be taking with me. I'm really really going to miss arguing with you, John. E-mail me while you're gone ok? And make sure you make time for a few good doc nights when you get back/before you leave for NZ....I'm going to miss the flailing and yelling. :) And of course the food nazi lecturing...and the making fun of the van...and the preaching from the backseat on the way home from the lotus... FUCK. Enjoy yourself, I'm jealous as hell.

hey guys thanks alot.
evan though ive been out traveling like this before, this deparutre feels paricularly exhillirateing. oh,and jessica i dont ever recall us actually ever argueing *sigh* i always leave shit to the extreme of the last moment....my flight leaves in only a couple hours and i jsut now finished dumping my memory cards,making backups and updating my ipod...shit i should of done months ago! lollol. shit.,

Have a blast as I'm sure you will. Be sure to record plenty of audio snippets of the Icaros and anything else you can muster, like sounds of the Amazon especially any bird calls and other creatures we don't have around this neck of the woods. Also let those zany self transforming basketball jeweled faberge eggs know whos boss...I'm sorry I had to :P. Bon Voyage!

pheww..got in late last night. safe and sound thankfully. lima is as crazy and hectic as i remember it. but the drom im in is full of a pack of uk backpackers who stink the place up.
anyways yeah mark the amazon should be pretty good for samples, LAx was good as well. esp the security voice announcements a pre-recorded voice makes all the time. big brother man big brother. and jess are you sure your not mixing me up with anyone eles? cause i dont recall what your saying. i disagree :) (lol) ciao ciao

OK!!!! well....lol.
a godamn shit load of material and contacts i have made. i need the help of someone with some ACE!!! videoediting skills!. myslef and another media luminaire from australia are pitching a idea of a audio documentay to national radio as well as other projects., its getting to be pretty serious. there pretty interested interested. audio i can handel fine, thats where my training and certification is in. but all the video i shot down there i havent a clue how to edit it all. can anyone lend me a hand and give me a few pointers on video editing please?? thnks!

if you want we have a full on editing system here at the studio, we do all our post production work here before sending it out to networks in Los Angeles.
