Because if you are going in a group and one person fucks up the story you are now all under suspicion.

If you are going to go shopping, how come you only have $100?Where are you staying? What is your friends name? Do you have a number I can call them at? What are you planning on buying?

If you plan to use your excuse but don't have answers to ALL of the above beforehand you might as well sell your ticket and stay at home.

No no don't ever lie about where your going. I go down to the states every weekend. I always tell the truth. I say "I'm going to a rave" Than the person working at the border will ask you do you have any drugs on you, you say no than he/she will ask what time will you be heading back to Vancouver. NEVER EVER LIE. They can catch you lieing and when they do you will suffer the consequences. And you don't need your parent's consent to go across the border if your under 18. I know it for sure because I go down there too much to spend time with my gf and hit up raves.
