So I watched this movie yesterday and it's hilarious!

Let's All Hate Toronto

Anyone seen it? And is it true about Toronto?

Definite recommendation!

I have seen it, and felt it was trying really hard to be funny and failed.

Sort of like when my friends and I tried doing a comedy interview show back in high school. It just looks so stupid on film.

I didn't find it funny. I found it offensive. And I'm confused as to why the furthest geographical city from Toronto, hates them the most. When it/they deal with them the least.

YOU REALLY HAVE TO GROW UP IN A WESTERN CITY OR MONTREAL TO GET IT, ITS A COMBINATION OF A LOT OF THINGS. ILL TRY TO BREAK DOWN A FEW THINGS FOR YOU:

-POLITICAL FOCUS ON ONTARIO PROBLEMS AND ISSUES DURING ELECTIONS

-MEDIA FOCUS ON TORONTO, SINCE MOST TV HEADQUARTERS ARE THERE (THOUGH THIS HAS BEEN BETTER IN RECENT YEARS)

-TSN, DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN IT? COVERAGE IS:
1) LEAFS, NO MATTER THE RECORD
2) SENATORS & CANADIENS, NO MATTER THE RECORD
3) THE WESTERN TEAM THAT IS DOING THE BEST AT THE MOMENT
4) THE OTHER 2 WESTERN TEAMS & THE REST OF THE NHL

IT'S LAUGHABLE, I MEAN LAST YEAR WHEN TORONTO WAS 6 GAMES OUT OF A PLAYOFF SPOT IN MARCH THERE WAS A 30 MINUTE ROUNDTABLE WITH THE QUESTION "ARE THE LEAFS TURNING INTO THE MOST DANGEROUS TEAM IN THE NHL?".

-HOW TORONTO SOMEHOW REPRESENTS 'CANADA' TO THE REST OF THE WORLD

YOU GROW UP HEARING ABOUT THIS MASSIVE CITY AND ITS OLYMPIC BIDS/POLITICAL CLOUT/HOCKEY TEAM/WEATHER/MULTICULTURALISM AND HOW ITS A BIG CITY THAT RIVALS ANY IN NORTH AMERICA, AND YOU THINK YOU'RE IN THIS SHITTY NOWHERE CITY THAT MEANS NOTHING. THEN WHEN YOU GET OLDER YOU SEE ITS IMPORTANCE IN CANADA IS BASICALLY A BUSINESS HUB, IT DOESN'T REALLY HAVE A LOT OF CULTURE LIKE MONTREAL OR UNIQUE THINGS TO DO LIKE VANCOUVER. ITS NOT INTERESTING LIKE AN AMERICAN MAJOR CITY. ITS REALLY NOT ANY MORE MULTICULTURAL THAN ANY OTHER MAJOR CANADIAN CITY. ITS HOCKEY TEAM IS JUST AS BAD AS YOURS. THE WEATHER SUCKS. ITS ONLY STUNNING QUALITY IS ITS HUGENESS AND OTHERWISE IT IS NOT THE SHINING JEWEL OF CANADA YOU GREW UP TO BELIEVE.

THEN YOU START TO APPRECIATE THAT YOU ARE NOT FROM THERE, AND START TO UNDERSTAND WHY SO MANY PEOPLE LEAVE. YOU DON'T HATE TORONTO, JUST THE IDEA OF TORONTO THAT YOU GET FED EVERY DAY FROM LIVING IN CANADA. o

Dabbler: Ya I have. I've also actually been to Toronto many times, and enjoyed every time I've gone. Since I grew up in Ottawa, I've been exposed to Toronto people on a much greater frequency than you. Their just like people here. I don't see what the big problem is.

Rawb, you bring up some good points, and one that is a little inaccurate.
TSN covers Toronto foremost, yes. But every other team gets equal coverage after that. CBC is Toronto and Vancouver heavy. RDS (French TSN) is Ottawa/Montreal split, but that's a specialty channel here in BC. Being a Senators fan living in Vancouver, I rarely get to see my team play on TV.

I'm not trying to praise Toronto, but is seems like most of you haven't actually been there, or given it a proper chance. It's a neat place to visit. I wouldn't want to live there, but I'd visit there again.

That being said. I still think Vancouver is the best place in Canada to live. We have the best weather all year around. It's the only city (big city) you can go skiing/snowboarding, and canoing in the same day.

I can say that as I am a born-and-raised West Coaster, living in Toronto. It's not as bad as the rest of the Nation makes it out to be.

I don't get it, why hate the Leafs? EVERYONE knows they suck.

Hell, a lot of the Leafs fans I talk to out here openly admit they are horrible. But they still pay to come see their Team play. Even if they lose, they still proudly support their hometown Team.

Not liking their players is one thing. Personally, I didn't like Domi. I also don't like Tucker, and Belak because he uses his stick to sack people. I used to hate their fans... but I don't anymore. At least they always stick by their team. Their true fans.

I've also completely dismissed the "Battle of Ontario". There is no battle anymore. Ottawa won. In the past 20 times the two teams have met, Toronto won 3 times. They haven't been a threat to anyone since about 2002-2003.
