Why are ours such shit? can't people learn to draw?

well powerpuff girls n dextors lab are alrite... but probbally because its creator is influenced by japanese cartoons.

western animation is just different. many asian animators were brought up on disney. in fact, one of the fathers of modern japanese animation, Osamu Tezuka, was just trying to make disney cartoons. his stylized drawing was further refined into what we have today.

it's a mutual admiration. japanese style is probably more mature looking as a whole because they don't have a 'kids stuff' stigmata placed on all thier animation.

You keep thinking that western cartoons are only based for kids.... you should also possibly include the whole Western style art VS Eastern style art, including comics, because that is what most cartoons derive from. There are tons of great Western cartoons: Spawn, the Maxx, duckman, Aeon Flux (done by Peter Chang, but it's quite Westernized) etc... there isn't really a 'better' one, just different style.

western vs anime... both have good series...
I luv Undergrads... yes hilarious stuff.

But there are 1000s more good anime series then western cartoon series because there are no rules... anything goes. When western cartoons make kids movies its strictly for kids, when they make adult cartooons, it is just that... mainly a bunch of girls running around in next to nothing... and a bunch of people swearing.. .yet not much cute stuff... Whereas in an anime, you get a good mix of everything.
