Did you guys hear what happened to the actor who plays jesus? While filming, the guy (i forget his name) "Jesus", got STRUCK BY LIGHTNING while on the wooden cross. I mean what does that say about god? He must be pissed.

This movie is an "interpretation" of a story. I expect it not to be 100% acurate but what movie base ona real story ever is. I for one can't wait to see it. Mel Gibson is one of my favorite , Actors/Producers/Directors of our time. Braveheart.....need I say more.

Hhmmm.......I don't really want to see it. Maybe it's just the $14 part I don't like. I'll be fine just waiting to see it on video.

He got struck several times n didnt even realize it supposbly n got up and walked away, along with during the crucifiction scene the metal plate put at the back suppobly one of the nails went through n almost penetrated the skin or did but the actor playing Jesus didnt feel it..

Ill post the link later where i got the information from since i was just browsing and it came on a couple of sites, other than that i believe him continuing and not feeling it is more of an act of god in a good way either showing protection in a good way, or a negative contreversy trying to shake things up during production..

Good discusion either way, peace..

i like mel gibson as an actor/director, but i have no urge to see this movie.

i hear the cinematography is great and its a very nice looking movie, production wise.

but seeing Jesus die a horrible death just doesn;t appeal to me.

maybe it's cuz of "holy blood, holy grail." (a book that says jesus didn;t die that day, but went on to live a long life and have kids and stuff. don;t knock me, its a well-researched book, not a hoax. but those of you who are familiar with it know what i am talking about)

you have have to admit, Mel Gibson sure knows how to make a movie that will make a FUCK OF A LOT OF MONEY!

I just got bak from this movie and I didn't think it was what everyone is making it up to be. I was dissapointed, did anyone cry? I think I felt a bit of sadness when they were nailing him to the cross and he said "forgive them father" but no tears.
And that devil scared the shiza outta me.

i've been thinking alot about this movie lately

and now i have to conclude that it is an excellent movie that everyone should see if they are remotely interested.

there is the case of offense many people may take after seeing this movie, mainly those who are in the christian, catholic and jewish faith. but the message that Jesus died for our sins is strong. and the message that the Jewish high priest and temple made a big mistake is also there. I'm not sure what the jewish faith stands on their doings towards Jesus who claimed he was the messiah (which ultimately led to his horrific torture and crusifixion) but anyone who is knowledged on the jewish faith i would like to know their stand on Jesus Christ.

I felt this movie showed the savagery of human nature very well in a harsh mel gibson violent way. During the movie i couldn't help but make constant parallelisms with the life of Tupac... which many may laugh at my contrasting but i feel i have good points to prove so. Many might of heard the saying that humans love to bring someone up to superstardom, then ultimately bring them down into a deep dark hole and laugh at the ordeal. Now if we look at the case of Tupac shakur, an intellectual man who grew up in poverty in the racially tense american society, who put in his heart, love, hate, anger and every single emotion you can think of into his music, he was bound to become a public figure mixed in controversy, superstardom and politics. The story from then on speaks for itself. I don't even have to explain the whole story

think of Micheal Jackson, John Lennon, even Eminem.... icons in music history many have labelled as gods... ultimately mixed in contoversy, savage humour and death..... after hitting the peak of their fame and influence

human nature digusts me.

It coulda been anyone who killed Jesus. The point is he died for all of us. Seeing him beaten and being nailed to the cross is so strong to me symbolicly I can just imagine my sin as those nails going through his hands. It's sad.

human nature of sin and savagery, greed etc killed Jesus and the story says he begged God for mercy not to him but to us

the movie pretty much points out the greed of the jews was directly responsible... fueling so much controversy

wow, i just saw this movie yesterday. I have never cried so much at a movie in my life. It's one thing when you listen to the stories about the crucifixion in sunday school, but to watch it....woah. It's the most gory movie i have every seen...and the sad part is, is that it's the only one that's true. It was amazing. Very powerful. Strong messages. They were so barbaric back then....

if i were a Christian or Catholic or whatever, I wouldn't want to go to a movie that shows my saviour being beaten and killed.

i don;t understand the draw to this film.

but yay for those of you who liked it. :kimmie:

Saw the movie last night. Makes you realise how savage people can be. And how a person can be so strong in a belief. So many points in the movie where you can compare to your everyday life. Judas selling out for money then going crazy. Peter selling out cuz he was scared of dying. I dunno but Jesus went though alot in that movie. Very realistic and shows the horror of a crusifixtion. I felt sad thru-out the entire movie. As per the she/he devil person thing, its real simple, the devil doesnt have a sexuality. therefore you cant make out if its a guy or girl. Kinda unknown. But yeah i recommend it to anyone that wants to appreciate life more. No need to be religious to watch.

I think that by seeing their saviour being beaten, tortured and killed in such a gruesome fashion, it really gives them a sense of Christ's love for humankind and the sacrifice He made, despite the evil, hatred and greed that exists within them. I think that for Christians or Catholics, (practicing or non-practising) to see that can really give them a new found appreciation for what Jesus did.

I watched this on Saturday....amazing, disturbing and moving at the same time. I never thought I'd cry watching this movie...but i did, as did 80 percent of the people in the theatre.....good job to Mel for successfully portraying such an event.....it could not have been done better...
