Videogame/QA peeps - position available

So my department is looking for a QA Lead to work with our team on the new upcoming N-Gage platform.

Experienced people only please - we're looking ideally for people with professional games QA and lead experience (looking for minimum 2 years in the industry).

Position Description

This role provides a challenging opportunity for an experienced professional to join the Games Publishing team. The role is located in Richmond British Columbia.



The Lead Tester is responsible for game testing for the North American Games Publishing team. The Lead Tester will work with a team of internal game testers and outsourced game development companies to ensure that games are tested to the requirements and standards set by Games Publishing – North America.



Responsibilities:

* Co-ordinate the daily test activities of a test team. Create, implement and maintain testing tasks and relay the results to the appropriate parties.
* Create, maintain and monitor bug databases.
* Contribute to the creation of evolving processes for N-Gage games, which may be stand alone, multiplayer and or on-line enabled.
* Develop and communicate test results to appropriate internal and external constituents.
* Implement & maintain reports and test tracking documentation for assigned titles in development.
* Plan for short and long term game testing needs – staff capacity and task management.
* Participate in the training and motivation of game testing staff.
* Communicate, cooperate and plan with Certification, Product development and developer support teams.
* Participate in the development of new game titles.
* Co-ordinate with other continental teams in testing as needed.



The Lead Tester will report to the Test Manager - Games Publishing, North America.

Requirements

* Thorough knowledge of game testing processes and Quality Assurance in game development.
* Two years of experience testing game software within a game development company (or equivalent education).
* Strong personal interest in video games, game development and game technologies.
* Understanding of software development process and challenges.
* Experience managing staff and an understanding of staff management issues.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Excellent communication skills.

Desire to ask questions and improve on all of the above.

fulltime position - salary is negotiable but you're probably looking at 50-60 + bonuses to start depending on your credentials.

Kraig, I'm a test lead in nokia. The role actually involves a little bit of everything so i'm part lead tester, part test manager, part assistant producer, part develop liaison, and a few assorted other jobs. I've done everything from manage test teams to actually serving as a producer on certain titles - it's great training if you want to move up into being a producer proper (personally, I don't just yet as I value my free time :))

oh yea, no GDC for me this year - I actually booked a vacation on the same date before I learned of GDC's date change (it's usually in march). It sucks, but Socool can't take time off on any other week so we're going to Mexico instead :).

Have fun tho... kinda wish I were there (especially since our department now wants me to DJ most of our parties nowadays :D).
