you arn't understanding the concept of what she is saying. Kurt Cobain wrote most of the lyrics for Nirvana and to say that you don't like Kurt and then saying you listen to his music and like his music is a contradiction. Now it would be different if the artist didn't write the songs and you liked the lyrics of the song and not the artist.

For example. Avril Lavinge. I don't like her one bit, but I still listen to her music, because of her lyrics not because shes singing them. Her songs would be better if they were sang by someone else.

there is zero contradiction between disrespecting a person but loving their art. james brown was a wife-beater, he also brought us the funk. i love his music but don't care so much for him. kurt cobain (when he wrote those songs) was an artist i respected and he wrote songs that i love. i don't respect his decision to end his life when he had a daughter. that doesn't change the fact he created amazing music.

i can't believe you told us that liking nirvana's music but not respecting kurt is a contradiction then went on to say you don't like avril lavigne but you still listen to her music.

Cobain was the embodiment of his art... he's one artist you can't not respect and still like his music because it was like a symbiotic extension of himself. Bad example for this arguement. Oh, and there are instances where I'll love a person's music and hate the artist themself... or vice versa. There are also instances where what the artist stands for makes their music repulsive to my ears, even though I can still tell it's well made music (ie Lynard Skynard).

And I agree completely with Mojo on this one, even though Nikita's a friend. Glad to have you around, Mekim.

completely and totally disagree with you here. i believe it's always possible to appreciate art, even if it is a direct extension of something that you may not like or agree with or what have you.

Haha, you know... now that I actually process that logic into my head from text it make sense, but when I was pondering in my hazy skull it didn't. Much of the art I appreciate is controversial and I respect it for the art that it is, but I do not agree with it nor the artist.
