If it is front wheel drive and you put weight on the back of the vehicle, you are making the problem worse.

You want as much weight on the tires as possible. If your car was rear wheel drive, then adding weight on the back makes sense.

If you have a manual transmission you should gear up (drive one gear higher than you normally would) to reduce wheel spin.

If you have an automatic, you have to learn how toease up on the gas so you don't spin the wheels too fast (too much torque).

Or buy snowchains for your tires. I have a SUV and I still carry chains in my car.

With the weight of the car the chains can bite into the ice. Of course if you go too fast you will still spin out.

if your car is front wheel drive you really should have snow tires on all four wheels..otherwise your back tires won't get as much traction and your car will oversteer(back tires slide) like a mofo which is usually fun, but not in traffic.

I totally agreee.
Having summer tires on the back wont make the front winter tires work at there best. Makes sense.
So im off to buy some more tires today after work. yay.
I'm going to have to get them anyways when i move to calgary..so might as well do it now . :PartEkid:
