I used to be on the depo shot years ago.. and it was great, but my doctor refuses to let me go back on it. And after hearing what he had to say I'm in agreeance.
My advice to you (if you don't like or have trouble trying to remember taking the pill) is ask your doctor about Nuva Ring. That's what I'm on/using- and I absolutely love it. :)

The ring ladies the ring!

http://www.nuvaring.com/ No pain, no bitchyness, once a month

The patch causes a higher risk of strokes. Don't go there.

Yeah, when my doctor first told me about it I was all creeped out and totally didn't want to use it. But he told me to just try it out and see. Glad that I did. :)

Exactly, but some doctors think that the shot is just fine. Some choose to be cautious and believe everything witch is not prooved, others will not believe it untill there is solid proof.
It worked great for you as it did me, others it sucks people just need to decide if they would rather trust what works or what they hear.

A few days later, my cousin came running out of the room she was sleeping in telling my grandma that she had wet the bed. My grandma knowingly said, "Sorry DeDe, you didn't wet the bed, you are pregnant and we need to go to the hospital."

After forcing DeDe to the hospital, the doctors and nurses had to restrain her. DeDe felt she needed to take the poop of her life, and was convinced she was going to poo on the doctors face if he got down there. (this was the urge to start giving birth mistaken for having to go to the washroom) The doctor finally convinced DeDe to push, and that it would be okay if she pooped on him. DeDe conceeded and pushed, low and behold, a baby popped out.

She had her period the entire time she was pregnant and carried smaller than most. She also claimed to never have had sex, and that her and the BF had started, but they changed their minds and stopped. She holds true to this, to this day.

Just goes to show how little the "pull out" method works.

ps - I still don't believe her. He totally tapped that ass.

Appaently it happens, working in Maternity wards as an OB nurse and at BC womens my mom saw this a fair amount. I dont see how you couldnt know. I mean at this point when the baby moves it looks like theres something in there trying to get out! How could you not notice that.

The birth father refused to let his name be put on the birth certificate.

They put the child up for open adoption. Don't even get me started on how stupid that is.....

But yeah, I am the only girl on my Dad's side of the family to make it past 15 without getting knocked up. They all live in the same small town, and I am pretty sure they all skipped sex ed class.

Fucking puds.

It doesnt help when some HIghschools Have daycares in them for the students children. Yes its good that they are still in school and geting education even with a baby, but when alot of the girls with chilren cant even get there Learners License and drive a care for another year its really not a good sign

Every single girl that I was good friends with in high school (both younger and older than me) all have kids, with the exception of me and 1 other. It's crazy.. a few of them were even in HS at the time.

I do the pill.

I went off for a couple months last summer and lost like 10 lbs, sah-weet, but you know, I'd rather be 10 lbs heavier than prego. LOL.

I would never go on depo or the patch. I don't really like the idea of not getting a period for months at a time, and I find taking the pill at the same time every day pretty straightforward.

For those of you that keep warding off the shot and telling girls no, you are not a doctor. The pill did not work for me. Just like the shot will not work for other girls.

Talk to your doctor and ask what he thinks is best for you.
Finally a comment that I can agree with. I've been on the shot for 5 years and I haven't had any problem with it, minus the weight gain (but a doctor also once told me that the weight gain is very minor if regular exercise is in the daily mix.)...and then again, the weight gain could have been because I got a car around the same time that I started taking the shot.

The shot gave me a bit of moodiness for a bit, but I it does it's job :) I'm thinking one more shot and then I'll switch forms of birth control (probably going to the patch because I'm terrible at taking daily pills). and the only reason for that is because I want to see how I feel OFF of the shot. I want to see if there's any change. I will not like having my period back...but 5 years with virtually no period spoils a girl I think :p.

Any questions you have about any form of birth control should be asked to your doctor as they are far more educated in this field of course.

I admit, I get angry when I get my period.

And I have gone off, for like a year at a time, and when my periods regs itself again, I go back on.

hah you can say that again! I've only got it a few times since I started taking the shot. Reasons: I got the shot a few days late. and another time I was really sick, had to go to school nonstop (at bcit nontheless...so demanding) and had finals/final projects to finish, so I was sick and completely stressed out. Other than that. Nothing.
