New Bands?

Any good ones these days? Seems with the overcrowding of the Indie scene the concept of the up-and-coming band seems commercialised and crappy.

Last year I discovered Talkdemonic, pretty good instrumental band. Reminds me of something between Modest Mouse and Little Joe Gould. Also liked Film School, and Les Claypool's first album just under his own name (though he was touring with Frog Brigade and Bucket O Bernie Brains tunes as well). But so far I haven't been able to find any decent new-to-2007 bands yet.

What kind of newer bands that aren't played on the radio are people feeling?

You could always *shudder* check out what PitchforkMedia have to say on the subject. They always enjoy promoting the up-and-comers, although whether it's because the band is actually good or because it just helps that website's indie cred tends to be a 50/50.

I've also been digging up/getting introduced to a lot of older British Rock
Check out The Wire and A certain Ratio

And if you aren't familiar with The Dears you should check them out, everyone should they're incredible and they're from Montreal.

The Wire is fantastic. One of the first bands I discovered when I first started getting into Indie/Post-Punk rock. Fischerspooner did an excellent cover of The 15th on their first album, highly recommend.

Ugh...

Pinback had to be one of the worst shows I've ever had to sit through.

We had a sold out crowd, but I wanted to simultaneously slit my wrists and hang myself throughout the entire show.

I feel ill just thinking about that band.

^ I heard they were absolutely terrible live however I love their recorded stuff.

Apparently they upped the tempo for their slower songs and slowed it down for their fast songs.
I didn't attend the show and I'm glad to a certain degree because that would have probably ruined it for me.

i came in to say the go! team also.

also kind of digging denvendra banhart (check out the track seahorse) and vampire weekend (check out cape cod kwassa kwassa), but i've only really heard a few tracks by either.
