The DJ, whomever that maybe, is contacted by the host of the event, who explains to the dj what he wants played and when, then the DJ(s) show up, set up, and play. I find it very rude when DJs just show up, throw their records at me and say "k, I'll play next". Excuse me? You were invited to a party, you were not invited to spin. Why is it some DJs don't have any fun unless they're BEHIND the decks? All you had to do was properly introduce yourselves and ASK if it would be possible to lay down a few tracks. Most people just assume because they own a record crate that it is their god-given right to jack up the tables and subject everyone to their singular style of music. Carlos/Dub C and Harp asked nicely, mind you, and they spun to their hearts content. Props to them for that. Sorry to anyone I managed to offend through the course of this post, but this is just how I feel. |

Okay, well in that case I reverse my statement. Hating on me I can respect. And I did not hover, I just didn't want my setup fucked up. The last thing I needed was a spilly talker next to my decks (and there were a few), so there I was, protecting my investment from drunkards. As it is, two of the channels on my mixer are now cutting out, and someone DID manage to spill in the pitch control, which I am now cleaning. You have to understand, that my decks are like some other dude's camaro. Okay? I love em to death. Would you want random ppl driving your camaro??? See, now you understand.

"We have Alje(DJ Detn8r), Charlie (Charlie2na), John(stringbeans), myself, and a few others who will be spinning." shawn got to spin like.. a whopping 4 tracks! and it was his own party! charlie didnt even get to go on (we were gonna lead into each other's sets or something), and i got to spin when people were getting kicked out! i dont mean to make a big deal out of it because it really isnt a big deal at all. but it seemed like a lot of ppl wanted to hear stuff other than trance later in the night, and the dj's who wanted to lay down some tracks never got to because you were pretty much "assigning" dj's to spin since they were your decks. what really sucks tho is that shawn almost didnt even get to spin at his own shindig, and i know he really wanted to because hes a supercrazytrancedj. oh well, it was still fun. |
