Though many nations claim the invention, most historians agree that the Chinese invented fireworks in the 9th century when they discovered how to make gunpowder. The story is that a Chinese cook toiling in a field kitchen happened to mix three ingredients commonly found in the kitchen - potassium nitrate or saltpeter (a salt substitute), sulfur (a flammable solid) and charcoal (from charred wood).

The cook noticed that, when ignited, the pile burned with a combustible force. The cook apparently also discovered that if these same ingredients were enclosed and then ignited, the combination exploded rather than burned. This explosion produced a loud sound perfect for frightening off spirits, celebrating weddings, and marking battle victories, eclipses of the moon, and the beginning of the New Year.

The fireworks were fun being drunk and yelling "I'm gonna fucking puke" got me to the water very quickly and got me a hell of a good seat 2 minutes after they started :D

after packing for most of the night i decided to go check out the fireworks. holy shat the music they were playing was crap.

luckily i had my headphones and cd player.

After the fireworks i got lost in my own neighbour hood going left on nelson instead of right and wondering why I was the only one going down nelson.
Canada did suck, I'll go to the rest. I picked a pretty rad spot to watch them.

Veni & I moved some boxes to her new place, tried to make it to the cold beer & wine store for Mike, line up was around the corner so we decide to forget that.

Parked at Mikes work (smithe and beatty) .. told him lets go they start at 10.

he replied "no no 10 30" so we left and got some fritz and made it to the beach in time to see the last one blow up.

Grand Finale will be more organized!

i went out with a few friends. we stopped off at the bourbon for a drink (we got dt around eight and didn't want to sit around for two hours on the beach) had a pitcher, went to another bar and had a few more drinks.

lol, we didn't even bother going to watch the fireworks.

my brother and i found tripping out to fireworks last night to be very enjoyable. YEA daisies....did anyone else see those????

k.....so here is how my random night went:
shouts to the guys walking down the street who we always kept bumping into and they ended up on our skitrain......yelling YEA, WUT, OK...all night. ha..amusing
shouts to jazzz....only the really cool people like jazz i can see, and to the happy faces, hearts and other shapes in the ski
shouts to the guy on the skitrain with the hip hop blaring....oh, and to those who were blazing in the train...ya we smelled your chronic and ya you didn't share
shouts to budy who i sat to on the bus down....and who my brother, oddly enough, ended up beside on the way back.....how freaking coincidental is that folks
and lastly...shouts to being with friends who have kids and taking the elevator to get on the train first!!!!!! :P

i forgot....shouts to whoever it was who handed me an apex flyer...lol.....man those things were everywhere last night
