That was a damn sick weekend, especially since I was partying til 7am the night before at Summer Crush. Woke up at 5pm today, gotta play at Plaza in a few hours... Getting up tomorrow for work is gonna be a mission. Jeff and Ollie's set was fierce.

The setup was no where near that of last years. I figure those huge tents last year were pretty expensive, as was the main stage, anyways... The union stage was hidden, people didn't even know about it! The lack of beer was wack too, and no ins and outs for a while was hurt, not like last year..
My boy lowski tore it up on the union stage, and had to play like an extra hour to fill in for someone.. You killed it man!! Whoever was playing at the prog. stage around 7 somethin was playing some dope shit. Mat the alien was wicked.. crazy fills and scratching, rapid mixing, dude is busy back there.. He played some really good shit too.. That shit with planet rock was sick!!!! Deliverance, hirshee and that other dude had the place going crazy, some nice electro house, I was feelin that. Malente was fuckin' awesome!! Man I really enjoyed that shit!! Really cool sounds, that b-more remix of that rick ross track was a wicked twist. Some of that electro shit was bonkers!! Dig dug was pretty dope, I wasn't too taken by his set, although there were some good songs in the mix. I caught the tail end of paranoid jack, that shit was awesome, I wish I saw more of him, kinda choked.. Kevin shiu played out of jack slick, those tracks at the beginning were kill!!! Capital J was pretty crazy, not my style of dnb really, but he was layin' it down. The guys rappin after capital j got off were not a good fit. The timing wasn't too hot, the dude was alright, just the flow of when he was on wasn't right. I like how they gave that shout out to a sean dalliwal, who seemed like he demanded his name be said through the mic, hahaha.. Reid speed was doing her thing, checked out a bit, it was pretty good. That dude from the autobots demolished the place!!! Wow, that was intense. The set kept getting better and better!!! A really nice mixup of styles, his mixing was so clean, the last 35 minutes of the set was just nuts. I can't wait for all that shit to come out!!! I can't say much more.. I am choked that there was no influenza, what was up with that?? Yo, those dancers at the breaks/dnb stage put on quite a show during malente lol.... Anyone that was there and saw it know what I mean. I had a really good time, heard some awesome music so I can't complain at all, success!! The missing headliners was wack, I woulda like to have seen the people that I didn't already know weren't gonna make it. I really would've liked to have seen jody from way out west, lange would've been nice. I also was quite curious about crs as well.. Oh yeah, haha.. my friends told me about some dude that came up to them and said "I'm jd and I'm tryin to meet everyone tonight" They saw him go up to some gangsta nam and say the same thing. sick sick sick glad i decided to go last minute because if i knew what music i was in store for and didnt go, i would have kicked my own ass! very suprised i just showed up and walzed right in no line or anything. i had a blast and laughed at some creepy people, and got relatively whacked out.. thanks miss lady dame for the captain momos, took the edge right off.... or maybe put it on?? who knows haha. all i reckon is beer running out at some point and everything from 10-3am somewhat of a blur fav sets?? capital j - wow dirty dirty filthy rotten ass beating tunes from this guy.. i didnt know i was capable of moving in such a fashion akeel - hands down best breaks dj in vancouver and and some...simply under appreciated, especially with that damn drum machine! cool mat the alien - just what i expected, SOLID!!! an autobot - awwwwsome, wasnt expecting nearly that.. so many bombs.. something just didnt line up with him though, at times it almost looked like he was playing a pre-recorded set :O maybe im retarded but i just had an uneasy feeling watching him play...surely someone knows what im talking about. and czech - simply put, the man is a class act and dropped some very thick breakbeat related material.... its always a treat hearing him play, as hes always throwing down his own beats that you wont hear anywhere else. anyways thats my night in a nutshell oh yeah, nipple piercings.. ouch! and random! |
