10 Reasons Why Neil Young Kicks Ass:
1. Always performs from the soul. It's how, despite so many songs sounding very similar, they always captivate. 2. Was doing grunge/noise rock long before The Pixies were around. 3. Trans. 4. His country twang album Old Ways is in fact more punk than anything typical punk bands make. 5. Even at 60+ years, and, for all intents and purpose, is just 'an old hippie', he has remained as relavent to modern events as ever. 6. Follows his muse, no matter the strange tangent it may take him. (rockabilly??) 7. Has endured more personal tragedy than many should have to, yet has always managed to stay strong in the face of adversity. 8. Incredible solo guitarist. Knows how to remain tuneful without plunging into indulgent wankery. 9. Lynard Skynard's biggest hit, Sweet Home Alabama, would never have existed without Neil Young. 10. [personal]His songs of longing love are some of the very few pieces of music that has known to make me misty eyed.

How about the fact that he was sued by his label for not sounding enough like Neil Young, which (correct me if I'm wrong), influenced his three concept albums.
Or the fact that he tunes his guitar slightly flat of the rest of the band. And the score for Dead Man is justification enough.. amazing soundtrack.
