the point of having a roommate is to cut living costs.

half the rent and all other bills.

if you move into a place where one person owns the place or is the only one on the lease, and it's fully furnished with the stuff of that person, then you should understand that it's THEIR stuff. You are paying rent for the apt/suite/house etc not to claim their stuff as yours.
